If you?re planning a 50th birthday surprise party, be ready for a little bit of work, and a lot of fun!
One of the most popular 50th birthday party ideas is to throw one with a ?70s theme. Although a 50 year old was born in 1961, they were in high school in the 1970s and tend to identify with this era the most. It will be a trip down memory lane for the the birthday person and all the guests, too. When you?re inviting the guests, tell them all to dress in 1970s style. In case they can?t remember what kind of crazy clothes people wore back then, give suggestions like: bell bottoms, hot pants, anything polyester, flared hip huggers, fake fur, boots, and platform shoes. Men wore their shirts open at the top by leaving the buttons open. Head bands, tie dye tee-shirts, Levi?s, lots of love beads, tinted round glasses, and dangly earrings were also popular. A thrift store is a great place to shop for these things.
Make a collage of photos of the birthday person that you collect from mbt panda sandals friends and family. Draw out a time line from childhood to the present leaving room at the bottom so guests can write down their fun memories of the honoree. In the invitation, ask people to speak at the 50th birthday party about the person you?re all celebrating. Tell them to bring their best story ideas to the party. This way everyone can learn more about the 50 year old, and it can make great entertainment. It?s similar to a "roast? in that it?s all in good fun.
Play lively music from the ?70s at your 50th birthday party. Ideas like: "Born to Run," "Brick House," "Y.M.C.A.," "Disco Inferno," "Last Dance," and "Play that Funky Music" are great choices. Hand out disposable cameras to the guests so you?ll have great memories of the party.
Ideas for decorating the 50th birthday party go from balloons and streamers to an "over the hill" theme. Be sure to take into consideration how the 50 year old feels about this milestone birthday; some people are overly sensitive, so keep that in mind.
Ideas for munchies include chips and dip, raw vegetables, cheese and crackers, canapes, tapas, non-alcoholic drinks, retro candy, and birthday cake. It?s best to keep the 50th birthday party simple; that way you can concentrate on having fun. If you make this a memorable occasion for everyone, you?ve done a great job!
It amazing how the majority of doctors and nutritionists ?even the Federal government ?promote the concept that a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet will lower heart disease risk. This concept of removing fat in diet, to promote cardiac health known to researchers as the "Lipid Hypothesis" is actually one big fat lie. These "experts? claim that this hypothesis is substantiated by incontrovertible scientific research, but in actuality, there little evidence to prove that a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat has any health benefits at all. To the contrary, the scientific data is clear ?A low-fat fad diet is pointless, useless, worthless and actually very harmful.
So, does eating fat make you fat? Is it unhealthy to have saturated fat in diet regimens? Is saturated fat bad for you? According to the scientific information, as interpreted by NJ holistic medical doctor Michael E. Rothman of MD Wellness, absolutely not ?this distortion of the truth is the basis for the Big Fat Lie (BFL). Unfortunately this misinformation was started, perpetuated, reinforced, and integrated into our consciousness, and our daily lives by the food industry in an attempt to lower the cost of producing foods. There are a wide variety of reasons youe better off keeping good sources of fat (like healthy saturated fat) in your diet. Here are the top five facts that fly in the face of the Big Fat Lie.
Top Five Reasons You Need Fat in Diet
1. Low Fat Diet = More Heart Disease + Increases in Other Diseases
Many countries and cultures that consume relatively high levels of saturated fat in diet are much healthier than similar populations that consume relatively low levels of fat in diet. While this doesn prove that eating saturated fat is good and avoiding saturated fat is bad, there a large body of evidence that flies in the face of the BFL, referred to as a dietary paradox.
The French Paradox
The French diet is loaded with saturated fats in the form of butter, mbt siha eggs, cheese, cream, liver, meats and rich p. Yet the French have a lower rate of coronary heart disease than many other western countries. Per 100,000 middle-aged men, 145 die of heart attacks in France every year while in the United States, 315 of every 100,000 die.
The Japanese Paradox
After World War II, and influenced by US eating patterns, the Japanese increased their consumption of meat and animal fats by a huge margin, and cardiovascular deaths fell.
Other So-Called Paradoxes
Animal fats from fish and marine animals are the staple for Eskimos. The good sources of fat in their native diet enable them to be free of disease while easily maintaining their hardy lifestyles. Similarly, although people in northern India consume 17 times more animal fat than those in southern India, they have an incidence of coronary heart disease seven times lower. Another example shows that milk, beef and the blood that is extracted with it make up the majority of the diet for the Masai and other related African tribes. Yet, these people have no coronary heart disease and excellent blood cholesterol levels. Also, many Mediterranean cultures have low rates of heart disease even though fat ? including highly saturated fat in diet of lamb, sausage and goat cheese ?almost reaches three quarters of their caloric intake.
2. Vegetarian and Vegan Diets Can Be Bad for your Health.
There have been countless books, journal articles and papers written on the benefits of vegetarianism and veganism. But, let look at a real-world example of how a person could "benefit" from becoming a vegan or vegetarian. Imagine this person has been eating at high-fat, high fructose corn syrup-laden fast food restaurants. As a result of their poor dietary choices, theye overweight, and suffer from fatigue, aches and pains, acne, headaches and IBS. After reading about the benefits of veganism, they stop eating fast food and go to the supermarket instead. They avoid all animal products and eat only fruits, veggies and get a large portion of protein from soy. They notice theye slowly losing weight, their skin is clearing, energy is improving, and aches and pains are diminishing.
Does this mean the vegan diet they chose is "good"? Not necessarily, though it true that the diet may be "less bad." Their symptoms and overall health may start to improve, at least in the short term, but over the long term, theyl begin to suffer from the effects of this nutrient-deficient vegan diet. Dr. Michael Rothman of MD Wellness has seen many patients like this in his practice ?people who unwittingly embraced vegan and vegetarian lifestyles only to find that several years or a couple of decades down the line they begin to suffer miserably. As they age, much of the unrelenting stress placed on their body systems manifests as severe fatigue, premature aging, hypothyroidism, weight gain, and much more.
3. Saturated fat in diet is good for you.
Wee all heard that saturated fat is bad. This is a myth created by the food companies and perpetuated by the drug industries to basically help boost the sales of seed oils, margarines and vegetable oils. Why? Because theye a cheap alternative to butter, coconut oil and palm oil, all of which have saturated fat. The truth is that mbt staka saturated fat should make up about 50 percent of your caloric intake. Saturated fat consumption increases HDL (the "good" cholesterol) and has many other beneficial properties. Healthy, hormone-building, tissue-enhancing, life-giving saturated fat is essential for proper functioning, growth and repair of all the systems in your body. But does eating fat make you fat? Not if youe choosing good sources of fat like unprocessed meats, cheese and eggs that are not laden with synthetic hormones and unnatural additives or have been fried or overcooked.
4. Low Cholesterol is Dangerous.
Since it a scientific fact that cholesterol is a necessary dietary component for the proper function of humans as well as animals, wouldn it stand to reason that if cholesterol isn available in sufficient amounts, catastrophic ramifications will ensue? Disastrous consequences of low cholesterol most certainly have been documented. Low total cholesterol
During the years of 1892-1924, there were more than twenty million people who immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island. In their quest for the dream of a better life, people were willing to journey thousands of miles, and many who had little or no money were forced to travel in steerage conditions. Most Americans born from 1940 to 1990 have no concept of the challenges faced by those entering the United States.
The reasons these new immigrants made the journey to America was similar to those of their predecessors. They were escaping religious, racial, and political persecution, or seeking relief from a lack of economic opportunity. Many were pulled here by contract labor agreements offered by recruiting agents, known as padrones, to Italian and Greek laborers. Hungarians, Poles, Slovaks, Bohemians, and Italians flocked to the coal mines or steel mills. Greeks preferred the textile mills; Russian and Polish Jews worked the needle trades or pushcart markets of New York.
Railroad companies advertised the availability of free or cheap farmland overseas in pamphlets distributed in many languages, bringing a handful of agricultural workers to western farmlands. But the vast majority of immigrants crowded into the growing cities, searching for their chance to make a better life for themselves.
Our ancestors understood the genius of simplicity. While many built rich and successful lives, their core values guided them. Family was first, the importance of quality relationships and the long held bonds of tradition made up the fabric that held people together.
"I would not give a fig for simplicity this side of complexity, but I would give my life for simplicity on the far side of complexity." ? Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. (March 8, 1841 ?March 6, 1935)
Life is the 21st Century, better known as the post-modern society with all its technological advancements has transformed the way people live, think and what we value. The industrial revolution has forever changed life in America. The demands of cognitive thinking have altered the way we learn and how we process information. Baby-Boomers can no longer bask in the mindset of asking a child how to use a computer.
Regardless of the challenges we face, simplicity is always on the mbt wave far side complexity. When Albert Einstein was asked; hy is it that when the mind of man has stretched so far as to discover the structure of the atom we have been unable to devise the political means to keep the atom from destroying us??he responded "That is simple, my friend. It is because politics is more difficult than physics".
When we think of simplicity, who better to look to than Comedian George Carlin, who said it best. "The American language is loaded with euphemisms because Americans have trouble facing the truth, so we invent the kind of a soft language, and it gets worse with every generation.
I?ll give you an example of that. There is a condition in combat that is a result of a fighting person?s nervous system being stressed to its absolute peak and maximum. In the First World War, that condition was called shell shock. Simple, honest, direct language. Two syllables. Shell shock. Almost sounds like the guns themselves.
That was seventy years ago. A whole generation went by and the Second World War came along and very same combat condition was called battle fatigue. Four syllables now, it takes a little longer to say and doesn?t seem to hurt as much. Fatigue is a nicer word than shock. Shell shock! Battle fatigue.
